The COMPUTE button allows you to add a column to your data set using any number of functions to compute the values of your new column. To start, click the COMPUTE button on the left-hand side of the screen. This will open the Compute Values pane in the upper portion of the screen.

In this pane, you can choose the name of your new column, and input the formula to be used to compute the values for your new column. Clicking the calculator icon will display a list of the formulas available for use with Paxata and allow you to select one to add to the formula bar. As you build your formula, Paxata will display a preview of the values that your formula will generate. If there are errors in your formula, Paxata will display an error message in the formula bar explaining the error.

Once you have built your formula to your needs, click the "Save" button in the upper-right to commit your new column to your project.
