DataRobot Community Guidelines

Welcome to the DataRobot Community!

Here at DataRobot, we are passionate and super-excited about empowering people to deliver deeper and more accurate results quickly and with intuitive workflows. We created this community as a place for all things DataRobot, as well as a peer-to-peer support channel for folks to come together, gain valuable insights from peers, collaborate, and innovate around DataRobot products.

While our community was designed with DataRobot users in mind, we welcome everyone with an interest in Accelerated AI, Machine Learning, and sharing insights.

The following community guidelines are here to help you understand what it means to be a member of our DataRobot Community. Please make sure you’ve read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for the terms that apply to your participation in the DataRobot Community.

Respect other community members

Our community members come from varied backgrounds and a variety of positions, industries, and expertise levels. Please respect other folks by asking well-thought-out questions and sharing what you've learned so far in your research or experimentation in a civil discourse. Help honestly, stay positively positive, construct constructive comments, and be patiently patient with others who may be newbies or not as technical. Insults and harassment have no place in the DataRobot Community.

Contribute relevant content

Please ensure your contributions are relevant to the community, the discussion style, and topic where you post. The community frowns up reposted posts, sourced from within this community or from other sites (e.g., Reddit, Stack Overflow, Medium, etc.), and irrelevant (and potentially malicious) links. Just keep your posts on topic, and understand that offtopic posts and unrelated links are likely to be removed.

Also, please do not post duplicate messages in different areas of the community, as this causes discussion fragmentation and makes it more difficult for everyone. If you have a new question, start a new thread rather than interrupting a conversation.

Value other members

Please thank those who have helped or inspired you. If you find a contribution helpful, please give it a kudo or accept it as a solution. Kudos and solutions will help boost the contribution value, make them easier for others to find, and boost the author’s reputation.

Be honest

Don't post anything that would violate any contractual agreements (i.e., copyright, trade secrets, patents, etc.) or nondisclosure agreements to which you or your organization are a party.

Protect everyone’s privacy

Please don't share anything about yourself or your organization that you would not want to see all over the Internet. Your business email address is okay; however, don't share personal information, either your own or anyone else's (including contact information or any content that you receive in one-to-one communications) without the other party's consent.

Community content is User Generated Content (UGC), so...

There is a lot of great information and advice in this community; however, your specific situation, configuration, or implementation may vary from that of an individual sharing their solution. Some advice could even be flat wrong. Remember to use the same good judgment here that you would use elsewhere on the Internet.

No prospecting or advertising

So it’s okay to share product and service information you’re wild about, as long as it’s germane to the conversation. However, don’t use the community to prospect or advertise, as that will get squashed. If you have something you want members to join, just ask us first.

Moderator privileges

DataRobot reserves the right of its moderators in their sole discretion to edit, move, block or remove discussions, signatures or images that they consider inappropriate or disturbing in the community. We may also ban any member at our sole discretion. We will always communicate with you via private messages to provide coaching or inform you of a decision. We ask that you do the same if you need to comment on a moderation action as to not disrupt the rest of the community. Don’t hesitate to send us a private message. You grant to us all rights, licenses and permissions necessary to display, reproduce, disseminate, and otherwise use your content in connection with the DataRobot Community. We may edit or remove your content, or block or disable replies on a topic, at any time at our sole discretion.

The DataRobot logo and DataRobot employees

You will notice that some community members have a DataRobot logo next to their names:

These logos identify DataRobot employees and their roles: MOD—Moderator, DS—Data Scientist, CM—Community Manager. Like you, they are members of the community and we encourage them to share their knowledge and opinions here.

In summary

Our goal is to provide you a community to share best practices, ask questions, and engage with others. We encourage and welcome activities and collaboration within the community that support the community mission, such as:

  • Knowledge sharing: ask for advice, collaboratively solve challenges, and share best practices with your peers.
  • Peer recognition: celebrate the achievements of your community members.
  • Support: other members.
  • Mentorship: provide insights and feedback on your knowledge and experience.
  • Network: connect to and develop contacts within the community.

Special roles within the community: registered members have enhanced collaboration and participation capabilities, and community moderators may additionally moderate discussions.

As a side note, certain types of content are neither welcome nor appropriate; any content resembling the following will not be posted, or will be removed as soon as identified:

  • Any content containing profanity or offensive language toward any race, religion, or gender.
  • Any content that violates IP or trademark laws.
  • Off-topic postings or comments, or statements that might incite other users to violate these guidelines or participate in illegal activities.
  • Messages or file uploads that contain photos, software, or other material protected by intellectual property laws, rights of privacy or publicity, or any other applicable law unless you own or have rights to these materials.
  • Instructions, software, or other materials that would allow Community users or third parties to harm other users' computers or to inappropriately access software or websites.
  • Computer programs that contain destructive features, such as viruses, worms, or Trojan horses. In addition, you cannot employ any type of bot for the use of scrolling, showing multiple screens, or other activities that might disrupt online communication.

We know this stuff hardly ever happens; however, wanted to let you know we don't care for it either and will deal with it upon discovery.

We may update and change any part or all of these User Guidelines at any time. If we update or change this Agreement, the updated Agreement will be posted within the DataRobot Terms of Service. The updated User Guidelines will become effective and binding on the next business day after it is posted. We encourage you to review these User Guidelines periodically. If you do not agree with a modification to these User Guidelines, you should not use the DataRobot Community.
